HR Director

ArtificialSeed develops advanced solutions at the cutting edge of artificial intelligence, focusing on real-world applications rather than purely theoretical research. Our work spans AI, computer vision, NLP, and fintech, where we design and build practical systems that solve complex, real-world challenges.

We’re looking for an HR Director who will take full ownership of people-related business results: recruitment quality, employer brand, engagement, and retention. This role is NOT operational HR. All HR Ops, payroll, personnel administration, and documentation are already handled by a dedicated function. The HRD’s role is to build and lead the people function as a business system, not to maintain processes.

# Key Responsibilities

  1. HR Function & Team Leadership
  • Lead and manage an HR team of 8 people, defining clear roles, priorities, and KPIs;
  • Build a structured, result-oriented HR function focused on hiring quality, retention, and people performance;
  • Set goals, monitor outcomes, and continuously improve HR effectiveness.
  1. Recruitment & Hiring System
  • Strategic oversight of the recruitment function;
  • Defining and evolving the overall hiring strategy in line with the company’s business objectives;
  • Establishing principles, standards, and performance metrics for hiring effectiveness;
  • Partnering with hiring managers and senior leadership on workforce planning and hiring prioritization;
  • Accountability for hiring quality, timely role fulfillment, and long-term team sustainability.
  1. Employer Brand & Market Positioning
  • Build and develop employer brand on the global market;
  • Define and articulate a clear EVP aligned with the company’s culture and business reality;
  • Oversee employer brand communication and positioning (internal & external).
  1. Engagement, Retention & People Conversations
  • Design and run retention and engagement programs;
  • Establish regular 1:1s, feedback cycles, engagement check-ins, and structured people conversations;
  • Identify risks early (burnout, disengagement, attrition) and take proactive action;
  • Support managers in people leadership, feedback, etc.
  1. Performance & Development
  • Build and maintain performance management frameworks;
  • Support leadership in developing managers and future leaders;
  • Align individual performance with company goals and expectations.

# Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in senior HR roles (HR Director / Head of HR / People Lead);
  • Strong background in recruitment systems, employer branding, and retention;
  • Technical or analytical education (e.g. engineering, mathematics, computer science, physics, or similar), enabling effective work with highly technical teams and leaders;
  • Proven experience managing and scaling HR teams;
  • Experience working with high-performance, technical, or analytical teams;
  • Ability to think as a business leader, not an HR administrator;
  • Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.

# What makes this position attractive

  • An international business with 15+ years of proven success;
  • A comfortable office in a convenient district of Bilbao with full facilities;
  • Direct access to the owner and top management - ideas are discussed and implemented quickly;
  • Minimal bureaucracy and fast decision-making;
  • A highly professional leadership team, including former top executives from leading companies;
  • Opportunity to build a strong HR function from a real business need, not maintain legacy processes.
